The Tuesday Toss Up: Chris Brown
by: Alex Bermudez

I recently met Chris Brown during a visit up to LA, he came off as a real chill laid back dude. I first heard about Chris Brown in a Props LA scene report, hence why he already seemed familiar when I met him... We got to talkin' and shortly after that I sessioned with him a few times, well actually I was riding and he was sorta riding, sorta gettin real high...

He's quite the chiller but his recent Volume web edit says differently, street killer! Keep on reading if you wanna know more...

The Tuesday Toss Up: Chris Brown

Name: Christopher Garrett Brown

Age: 21

Currently residing in: Los Angeles, CA

How long have you been shreddin'? 7 years

What got you into BMX?

Long story short seen some old Ratboy and Edwin videos, seriously was like "damn this is tight" and from there just committed, loved it ever since.

What influences you on and off the bike?

My family, God, older homies, art, smoke, music, females.

Where can you normally be found shreddin'? What are some of your favorite spots or parks?

How long have you been gettin' hooked up by Volume and how'd that all come about?

Maybe like 2 years or so and the homie Eman put in a word for me to Brian Castillo. Shout out to Eman and Boy.

Chris' deluxe Zombie...Chris's deluxe Zombie...You recently dropped that Volume bangers only edit, when can we expect to see more Chris Brown Volume edits? And how's that new Volume Zombie frame holdin' up?

I wouldn't say bangers but thanks, I'll be in a couple little edits here and there, been filming for .the new Demolition video which will have a Volume section. Its a new year so expect new things. As far as the Zombie frame it's really tight and I recommend you get one.

I along with others have come to know you as the dude that shows up on his bike to chill pretty heavy, what's the deal with that?

Well um, hahahaha, yeah I guess you can say that I like to chill take in all my thoughts... All said, gets to riding.

Level headed when you go into shred mode or piffed out to calm the nerves and relax?

Ian Schwartz On Farmer Pro?!
by: Alex Bermudez

I guess farming corn is pretty exciting when you're from Ohio...I've heard better reasons to leave BMX behind like "growing up", going to school for your PHD, taking over a family business... Maybe farming your own organic corn is more exciting than going fakie and tossin' the bars? I bet corn farmers make better pay working on a Sunday as compared to those who shred Sundays!...

I guess I can't say I didn't see it coming, I've watched Ian's riding mellow out over the years and I want to say that he used to do gnarlier stuff back in the first Lotek video days. He used to do cool, fast, tech shit and then he just grew out his hair and didn't really do anything worth mentioning.

I guess mellowing out to a hippie stage in life and farming healthier food go hand and hand? Here's what he had to say on the matter...

"About 6 months ago I reached a point with riding that it just didn t feel the same as it used to. Although its been a dream come true and I would never trade any of it, I m certain it s time for me to move on.I was raised on a family farm and enjoyed it as a kid, but lost interest as I grew older and found other things. Well a couple years back I started to find enjoyment in the goings on of it again and began to read and learn about it. I ve been able to meet and work with many area farmers and found an entire world of ideas and opportunities to explore. My family has allowed me to lease a small 17 acre field on our farm and I ve begun implementing my ideas for responsible, respectful and productive food growing. I hope to grow (but not too big), either on our farm or on my own somewhere else in or around my hometown of Lancaster, Ohio.

I still love riding, and will continue to ride, just not in the same way as I have for the past 4 or 5 years. I appreciate the kids that have had nice things to say online and in-person, and I ve had an awesome time with the guys on the team.

Take care,"
Ian

So with that said, lets remember the better days when Ian killed it...

JJ Palmere Coming Back Atcha!
by: Alex Bermudez

Kenny G, oh so soothing on that clarinet...I hadn't seen too much of JJ in a while, seen a few clips of him here and there in a random web edit but it wasn't the JJ I remember... So, I had forgotten about him all up until a few moments ago when I saw this awesome new edit from him. Doing it for Premium, riding smooth as balls with a freshly healed knee, I hope to see more of JJ in the new year...

My Two Cents: JJ doesn't shred slow by any means but the song didn't really seem to work for the riding. I think it would've worked better to a little of this...

WHAMMO! Featuring Denny Freestyle'n!
by: Alex Bermudez

Champ calls em' like he sees em'!Craig Passero brought back the WHAMMO cam and everyone on the East Coast has been gettin' clips for these WHAMMO edits. I don't know the story with the WHAMMO cam but it seems that good things happen when that thing comes out. This one features a grip of dudes tearing up Haven park to a Denny Deluxe Freestyle in AUTO TUNE!

I LOL'd numerous times...

Denny's hop 180 invert into that wedge was fucking tits, he slammed his bike beyond flat and onto his black back for that one!
